While playing around with Paint Shop Pro, I discovered an easy way to colorize black and white photos.

Here are a few examples of what you can do:

First the black and white version of the photo:

Now my colorized version

Heres another example

First the black and white version:

And now my colorized version:

This is a black and white graduation picture of my wife Marie.

And this is the colorized version:

Here is an example I did using a very old black and white photo that dates back to the late 1940's

The original image:

Now the colorized version. I cropped this one to remove some of the excess background:

Of course, the better the image you have to start with, the better the results you can expect. In this case, the image was somewhat faded and blurred, so the results are less then optimal.....

Pretty neat huh?

I suppose now you want to know how you can do that too?

Well I'm not going to tell you......

Just kidding...... You can move on to the Colorzing Tutorial to learn all about how to do this......

I should warn you ahead of time. This tutorial is very graphic intensive. That means it has a lot of images in it, which will cause it to be slow in downloading. But I thought it was imprtant to show you step by step what you need to be doing, how things should look and so on, so I did a lot of screen captures to help you follow along with me.

I think the wait will be worth it.
